Penha Longa Atlântico course

The Penha Longa course enjoys championship characteristics, an excellent level of maintenance and stunning panoramic views over the Sintra mountain range. The Atlântico is a fabulous eighteen-hole course only twenty minutes from Lisbon, and forms part of the Protected Landscape Area of Sintra and Cascais. Robert Trent Jones II, the architect of the course, designed it to take full advantage of the sloping terrain and the excellent views of the surrounding landscape and sea. As a result, the first and last three holes are laid out in a valley wooded with pines and granite outcrops, while the 4th and 10th have been built on a hill offering extraordinary views over the region.

Its championship characteristics and excellent level of maintenance have contributed to it being considered one of the best courses on the European Circuit. In 1995, Penha Longa opened a new nine-hole course (Mosteiro) to further enhance its' attraction.
